Two years ago, I volunteered for the state senate campaign of Andrew Gounardes. I supported Andrew then because I could see by not just his words, but by his actions, that he truly cared about the community.

He has spent his career in public service and grew up in a family that taught him to give back. I was very proud when Andrew won the state senate seat two years ago; proud to have volunteered to help elect a true fighter for our community who has a passion to help others.

Since that time, Andrew has lived up to his promises, passing numerous laws to help our district and all residents of our state, including legislation to make our streets safer for pedestrians, to strengthen protections for women, LGBTQ people, 9/11 first responders, tenants and homeowners, civil servants, and victims of childhood abuse.

Andrew has secured increased funding for public schools and secured funds to renovate Marine Park playground, as well as ensured an expedited timeline for the use of those allocations, two issues particularly important to me as a parent in Marine Park.

I know Andrew continues to advocate for property tax reform and better MTA service and access for South Brooklyn. And, of course, Andrew has not stopped helping the community in hands on ways with park clean-ups, community events, and by helping all those in need during the COVID-19 crisis with meals, PPE, and services.

Andrew truly wants to serve ALL his constituents and he takes the time to listen to all issues and concerns brought to his attention. His honesty and integrity are key attributes that make him the ideal public servant. I know there is so much more Andrew can and will do for our community and I look forward to casting my vote for him again this year.
